Balmers GM have been serving the arboriculturally industry for over thirty years, specialising in arborist machinery such as wood chippers, stump grinders and forestry hand tools.

Our team of Service Technician's are all trained and have experience of working with the arb industry's leading brands of machinery allowing our engineers to complete diagnostics, servicing and repairs swiftly and efficiently.

Annually or every 200 hours (whichever is first)

  • Drain and replace engine oil
  • Replace engine oil filter
  • Replace fuel pre-filter
  • Replace air filters
  • Replace spark plugs (petrol engine)
  • Check hydraulic oil level and condition
  • Check anvils for signs of wear
  • Check the tension of all drive belts and adjust as necessary
  • Check the track drive unit oil (tracked machines)
  • Remove all old grease from the rotor bearings and re-grease
  • Grease the discharge tube mounting flanges
  • Check all nuts, bolts and fasteners for security. Re-tighten to the correct torque settings as necessary
  • Check fuel pipes and clamps for signs of damage
  • Check hydraulic pipes and clamps for signs of damage
  • Check for loose or damaged electrical wiring and re-secure as necessary
  • Sharpen/grind/turn blades
  • Towed chipper - basic inspection of trailers systems: lights, wheel bearing play & operation of brakes (drums not removed)
  • Tracked chipper - basic inspection of track unit and tension of tracks

Annually or every 200 hours (whichever is first)
