Stihl BTA 140 Battery Earth Auger - AP System

The BTA 140 is a professional battery-powered earth auger from STIHL. Part of the AP System, this powerful auger is designed for demanding users in horticulture and landscaping, forestry, agriculture and construction.

Capable of drilling holes up to 300 mm in diameter, this tool makes fast work of driving posts, digging planting holes and drainage shafts, and creating small to medium-sized foundations. Sharp drill bits and spindles with cutting blades help the auger penetrate even challenging, stony ground efficiently.

The BTA 140 is powered by a high-performance EC motor that runs smoothly and with low vibration for comfortable operation. As it’s battery-powered, it’s also quiet to use and suited to working in noise sensitive areas without the need for hearing protection. Designed as a one-person tool, the auger has a well-balanced, close-to-body drilling axis to support an ergonomic working position. 

Control is simple via the handle, with three operating modes to suit the job: 

• Slow / Low gear (0-170 rpm) - for easy, low-kickback work
• Fast / High gear (0-230 rpm) - for tougher ground conditions
• Reverse gear (0-35 rpm) - to help free jammed drill bits from roots or stones

The selected mode is activated on the control handle and shown clearly on the integrated display.

A large, comfortable cushion helps you guide the auger smoothly and precisely during drilling. If a blockage occurs, the STIHL QuickStop system automatically detects twisting and stops the drilling process to help protect the user and the tool. Work can be resumed immediately by reactivating the auger on the control handle.

For storage and transport, an intelligent transport bracket allows the device to be stored in a space-saving way while also helping to protect the QuickStop system from impacts. The BTA 140 is IPX4 certified, meaning it is splashproof and can be used reliably in rainy conditions.

The BTA 140 can be used with all exisiting STIHL drill accessories (not included) between 40mm to 300mm.

With the recommended AP 300 S battery you can make around 230 holes (90mm auger attachment) or 150 holes (150mm auger attachment).
